Job Summary
Critical partner in the strategic planning process by providing input to the scope definition of strategic initiatives leveraging capabilities, creating capability Heatmaps to provide visibility to impacts, dependencies, overlaps and opportunities. Key Deliverables include but not limited to: Cost Analysis, Risk Analysis, Capability Models, Capability Heatmaps, Capability Maturity Assessments, Capability Impact Assessments, Capability Health Assessments & Capability Roadmaps.
Drives and facilitates discussions with senior leaders to identify business capabilities in relation to current and future business strategic needs. Leads or supports process assessments and advocates adoption of “best practices” to ensure standardization of business architecture outputs across the enterprise.
Provides general leadership/mentorship to other business architects.
Champions and drives the support optimization plan to individual health plans.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
- Applies mastery of the industry knowledge to lead strategic initiatives that impact several or all business capabilities. Is responsible for driving vendor reviews and influencing the selection of vendors that meet the product expectations. Works collaboratively with MHI IT leadership, health plan leadership, and corporate stakeholders to continue to transform technology services and investments into highly visible, effective, and efficient assets.
- Provides leadership and vision for IT strategic and tactical planning, including driving appropriate governance structures to address goals to foster innovation, prioritize initiatives, and manage current and future IT systems that assure continued high-quality services are provided to assigned health plans and state agencies.
- Focuses on the alignment of strategic goals and organization objectives to the business project portfolio. Supports the achievement of key goals, planning and execution of various business scenarios, and delivery of bottom-line business value. Project manages ideation programs. Under minimal to no supervision, partners with enterprise/solution/technical/security architects to deliver business architecture strategic artifacts needed for end-to-end solution architecture.
- Supports delivery management which includes the alignment of delivery plan and the organization’s intended business case, supports the estimation of work effort, costing, planning, and issue/risk management. Partners with program leadership to ensure strategic objectives are met in execution. Manages other business architects and assure quality of their deliverables.
- Leads, builds, manages, enhances business capability catalog along maturity / optimization framework to drive enablement of the longer-term roadmap.
- Creates and maintains business capability, data, processes, and technology inventories. Works with multiple capability and functional teams to gather and document the business and technology landscape. This includes participation in senior leadership meetings.
- Partners with executive/senior leadership to build a business architecture strategy based on various business scenarios and motivations. Applies structured business architecture approach and methodology for capturing the critical views of the enterprise.
- Provide governance support on priority projects that may have extensive cross functional impact and team organization.
- Partners with enterprise portfolio team by assessing and rationalizing proposed investments to reduce duplication, identify gaps, dependencies, and constraints.
- Creates, maintains/verifies use cases
- Supports financial forecasting for the IT business unit
- Advanced understanding of Health IT (HIT), API utilization and industry trends
- Advanced knowledge of healthcare payer processes/business
- Demonstrates superior understanding of health plan operations and major healthcare technology applications that support the line of business
- Demonstrates advanced knowledge and understanding of business work pipeline, IT roadmap, business impacts and required interactions to link these efforts to portfolio management processes and facilitates with clients to ensure work is considered in pipeline
- Complete mastery of business architecture techniques for process modeling, value stream mapping, assessments, and execution techniques
- Effective planning, organizational and time management skills while on multiple complex assignments
- Proven interpersonal skills while in complex situations
- Business thinking and highly strategic define practical solutions that align with corporate strategy
- Ability to execute data queries and analysis to help fact-based decision making
- Completes advanced deliverables; ability to use modeling techniques to design and communicate solutions
- Proven ability to influence stakeholders and IT Leads to define scalable solutions
- Recognizes obstacles that require attention. Solves vague/ambiguous problems of enterprise scope/complexity. Only engages management chain for facilitation of serious roadblocks/concerns
- Presents recommendations and solutions clearly and concisely can focus on key points to portray the intended message or purpose.
Job Qualifications
Required Education: Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience
Required Experience:
- 10+ years Business Architect Experience
- 5+ years Delivery management experience
- Excel, SQL, Python proficiency
Preferred Qualifications:
- TOGAF Level 1 and 2
- Certified Business Architect
- Lean Six Sigma Certification

Pay Range: $107,028 - $250,446 / ANNUAL
