Job Summary
The Mgr, Physical Security is responsible for ensuring the safety and security of the organization's physical assets, facilities, and personnel. The manager develops, implements, and manages comprehensive security strategies, programs, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and protect against threats such as theft, vandalism, unauthorized access, and natural disasters. Plays a critical role in maintaining a secure environment conducive to the organization's operations, upholding regulatory compliance, and fostering a culture of safety and security awareness across all levels of the organization. This role includes line management responsibilities with a focus on skills and program development for all junior roles within the Physical Security team.
Job Duties
• Develop and implement a comprehensive physical security strategy aligned with the organization's goals and risk profile.
• Conduct risk assessments to identify vulnerabilities, recommend appropriate security measures and work towards remediation and/or mitigation.
• Create, update, and enforce physical security policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and industry standards.
• Oversee the installation, maintenance, and operation of security systems, including surveillance cameras, access control systems, alarms, and perimeter security.
• Assign technical staff to handle day-to-day operations and maintenance of security systems.
• Coordinate with facilities management to integrate security measures into building designs and renovations.
• Conduct security awareness training programs for employees and contractors.
• Develop and distribute educational materials to promote a culture of security.
• Manage relationships with security technology vendors and service providers.
• Negotiate contracts, oversee service delivery, and ensure vendors meet performance standards.
• Manage assigned line items within the security budget, ensuring cost-effective allocation of resources.
• Evaluate and recommend investments in security technologies and infrastructure.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders, such as IT, HR, Legal, Compliance and Facilities to integrate security measures into broader organizational processes.
• Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of security measures and make recommendations for continuous improvement.
• Assign team members to gather and analyze data on security measure performance. Provide mentorship and training to roles within the Physical Security team.
• Stay informed about emerging security threats, trends, and best practices to enhance the organization's security posture.
• Prepare and present regular reports to senior management on physical security programs’ effectiveness and critical findings.
• Coordinate with the Director of Physical Security on special projects as needed.
• Ensure direct reports establish goals and objectives that align with Physical Security and organizational objectives.
Job Qualifications
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice, Security Management, Business Administration, or a related field. An equivalent combination of education and experience is acceptable.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:
• A minimum of 5+ years of progressively responsible experience in physical security, law enforcement, or military service.
• At least 5+ years of experience in a managerial or leadership role overseeing physical security operations at a multi-site or national level.
• Proven ability to lead and manage security teams, including training, performance evaluation, and professional development.
• Strong project management skills with a record of successfully implementing security programs and initiatives.
• Demonstrated experience in conducting risk assessments, vulnerability analysis, and security audits.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• In-depth knowledge of physical security principles, including access control, surveillance systems, incident response, and emergency management.
• Familiarity with relevant laws, regulations, and standards (e.g., OSHA, NFPA, DHS and local building codes) affecting physical security.
• Proficiency in the use and management of security technologies, such as CCTV, access control systems, alarm systems, and physical barriers.
• Ability to analyze complex security issues and develop effective solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports, policies, and procedures.
• Skilled in preparing and managing security budgets, including cost analysis and resource allocation.
• Ability to evaluate and justify security investments and expenditures.
• Knowledge and ability to think creatively, proactively, and independently.
• Able to lead, communicate and influence at all management levels and thrive in a cross-functional matrix environment.
• Able to effectively facilitate meetings.
• Superb organizational skills and the ability to delegate effectively to meet delivery targets.
• Able to interact concisely/accurately and positively with stakeholders. Remain calm in challenging business interactions.
• Able to quickly build rapport and gain the respect and cooperation of both technology and business leaders. Possess strong interpersonal and indirect influencing skills, with a demonstrated ability to gain the confidence of individuals at various organizational levels.
• Action oriented and driven to achieve results in a positive manner, displaying ethical behavior, integrity, and building trust at all times.
PREFERRED LICENSURE OR CERTIFICATION
• Professional security certifications such as Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), or Certified Security Manager (CSM) are highly desirable.
• Certification in Project Management
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
• Healthcare industry experience on either the medical services provider and/or payor space preferred.
• Proficiency with advanced security technologies such as Lenel access control, Avigilon video surveillance and Bosch/DMP intrusion systems

Pay Range: $73,102 - $171,058 / ANNUAL
