Job Description
Job Summary
The Senior Accountant, Tax will work with Tax Department to complete Company tax objectives and compliance requirements.
  • Prepare and file federal, state and local consolidated/combined corporate income tax returns including preparation of supporting work papers.
  • Assist with preparation of quarterly and annual GAAP and statutory tax provisions including calculation of effective tax rate, permanent and temporary differences, return to provision adjustments, analysis of deferred tax liabilities and assets, and related financial statement disclosures.  
  • Analyze tax payable accounts quarterly and work closely with A/P manager and plan accountants to ensure timely posting and payment of intercompany tax payments.
  • Calculate quarterly federal and state corporate tax projections for estimated taxes and extensions, prepare related forms, and manage payment requests and timely filings.
  • Prepare and maintain company-wide state apportionment schedules.
  • Manage annual property tax return filings for all companies.
  • Manage monthly, quarterly and annual sales/use tax filings for all companies.  Review quarterly sales and use tax accruals for reasonableness and work closely with A/P and Procurement departments to maximize the capturing of use tax liabilities within JDE.
  • Prepare and manage premium and maintenance tax returns for health plans.
  • Work with administrative assistant to maintain accurate company-wide tax calendar. Manage and review federal and state tax depreciation.  Will work closely with Asset Management, A/P and Procurement departments to ensure appropriate tax depreciation cost, lives and methods are utilized upon initial posting to JDE.
  • Maintain all software exclusively used by the Molina tax department, ensuring timely installations and updates to most recent versions.
  • Resolve outstanding issues, including drafting of response letters and communication with taxing authorities. 
  • Compile, organize and maintain all tax work paper and permanent paper and electronic files.
  • Manage and respond to internal and external audit document requests.
  • Perform tax research and draft technical memorandums as needed. 
  • Assist with tax examinations and special projects.
  • Work with Tax Department in ongoing efforts to develop processes that will increase efficiency and accuracy in the tax department.
Job Qualifications


Required Education: 

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting

Preferred Education:

Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Masters of Taxation

Required Experience: 

4+ years specializing in tax

Preferred Experience:

Big 4 experience

Required Licensure/Certification:
